MoPOP Exhibit:
The Wave Station

Client

MoPop - school project

Location

Seattle, WA, USA

Year

2022

The mission of this project is to spark the curiosity in others to experiment with music, and to encourage the unique creativity of individuals. Through historical visuals, stories of noteworthy people and musical innovation, the exhibit highlights moments that changed the production of music. The mission of MoPOP, the venue of this exhibit, is to make creative expression a life-changing force by offering experiences that inspire and connect our communities. The mission of this exhibit fits with the mission of MoPOP because it is an experience that inspires visitors to make their own music. The intention of the exhibit is to educate visitors on what a synthesizer is, its history, and the big artists that influenced sound with their use of the synth. There will be an interactive component that allows the visitors to remix a track using a synthesizer and then share it with friends afterward.

This page shows the musicians and groups that I chose to highlight within the exhibit. These artists are pioneers and iconic users of synthesizers, along with many others. These artists give vistors an insightful and inspiring look into the impact that the instrument made on them and their listeners.

These synthesizers were chosen to be the interactive component of the exhibit, where visitors could try out an instrument with different tracks and mix their own.

Vernacular

Bright, psychedelic, retro, and fun.

Using the 60s and 70s decades and sound booths as inspiration I developed a visual vernacular that represents this era of music and the origins of the synthesizer.
