Oral health maintenance is central to achieving and maintaining systemic health. Studies show a link between gum disease and diseases such as Alzheimer’s, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Effective oral health care is essential for residents of long-term care facilities. Our goal is reaching long-term facility staff, residents, and the family members of those residing in said facilities, providing education, motivation, and encouragement. In turn, promoting higher job satisfaction for staff, peace of mind for family members, enhancing both quality and longevity of life for the care center residents.
Research
Our research phase was quite extensive since we needed to accurately present the issues and design for the challenges that we found. Our research contained a KWHL diagram, Competitive Audits for multiple different case studies and public health campaigns, as well as Interviews with notes and insights, and multiple personas to further understand whom we were designing for.
Communication Plan
This communication plan was developed to clearly define whom we were communicating to, how we should be communicating, goals, objectives, channels of communication, deliverables needed, and more.

Conclusion
In conclusion, if we had more time with this project we would like to build out more pages of our Oral Health Care Portal prototype and conduct user research to see how users interacted with and felt about the functionality of the portal. We would also like to implement an informative and educational piece for nursing staff to learn more about the importance of oral health and how to better care for their Resident’s oral health, either within the Oral Health Care Portal or through another communication channel.
